Xi Jinping elected for third term as China's president
Xi Jinping won his third term as China's president on Friday after an official vote by parliament, the culmination of a rise that has seen him become the country's most powerful leader in generations, Forbes reports.
The result of the deputies' vote, announced shortly before 11:00 (03:00 GMT), was unanimous: 2,952 votes in favour, zero against, zero abstentions.
Xi Jinping (69) already won a five-year extension in October 2022 as head of the Communist Party of China and the military commission, China's two most important positions of power, Agerpres notes.
The sole candidate was re-elected as head of state for five years.
