Police raids on criminal case 'preparing for mass disorder'
Several searches are taking place this morning on a criminal case aimed at preparing mass riots. The information was released by the Inspectorate General of Police (IGP).
Police raids are taking place in several localities across the country and are being carried out by employees of INI's Organised Crime Investigations Directorate and those of the General Directorate for Criminal Prosecutions, together with PCCOCS prosecutors.
The file concerns preparations for mass riots from 18 September 2022 to the present. The investigations are being carried out in view of the fact that, contrary to the Law on assemblies, preparations for mass riots were allegedly made, including the transportation from different regions of the country to Chisinau of several persons, in particular young people, including previously convicted persons, instigated to commit new crimes. Other roles within the organised criminal group included the recruitment of individuals to participate in destabilisation.
A number of similar raids were carried out late last year.
