MFA replies to the Kremlin: "We are resolute in our determination to become an EU member state"

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and European Integration condemns accusations by Maria Zaharova, spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, that the authorities in Chisinau are destroying "the country for the sake of those who pay money". Chisinau says these allegations are untrue and have no basis in fact.

"Our government has a strong mandate from the citizens to maintain peace, security and democracy in the Republic of Moldova. We are working in the interest of our citizens and have an irreversible commitment to build a strong and prosperous European Moldova for the benefit of all our people," MFAEI said.

The institution reiterates that the Republic of Moldova is firmly committed to efforts to promote peace and stability throughout the world.

"We are resolute in our determination to become a member state of the European Union, a goal supported by the majority of our citizens. We will continue to work with utmost dedication and determination to achieve this goal, rejecting any attempt to undermine our efforts by spreading false and manipulative accusations," the statement issued by the MFAEI added.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zaharova claims that the authorities in Chisinau would destroy "the country for the sake of those who pay money". She is quoted by RIA as saying that at the suggestion of the United States and the West, politicians who do not pursue the interests of the people are brought to power. It is worth noting that Zaharova regularly makes statements against Moldova, criticising Chisinau's actions.
