The Moldovan soldier who died defying the Russians was posthumously decorated by Volodymyr Zelenskiy

On the Day of the Volunteer, the Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, decorated hundreds of Ukrainians, 47 of them posthumously. Among them is Oleksandr Matievski, the soldier originally from the Republic of Moldova, who became famous after he died defying the Russians. Also, the ukraininian president decorated Dmitro Koţubailo, known as "Da Vinci", also a famous figure in Ukraine, who voluntarily enlisted and fought in the east, as early as 2014, when he was a teenager.

The mother of Alexandr Matievschi, the soldier with Moldovan citizenship executed by the Russians on the Soledar front, received the Order of the Golden Star from the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky.

According to the Ukrainian media, Alexandr Matievschii was going to turn 43 on May 10. He was born in Chisinau, and since 2008 he moved with his family to Ukraine, in Nejin. He had no previous military experience, but after the Russian invasion of Ukraine he volunteered in the battalion, which defended the Chernigov region.
