Officials from Chișinău visited an American company employing 85 Moldovans
A delegation from the Republic of Moldova recently visited Chicago to meet with Moldovans employed at one of the leading U.S. transportation companies. Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popșoi and Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu visited C1 Holding, a group that includes six companies operating a fleet of 220 trucks and 350 trailers.
Eighty-five Moldovans are employed at this company, which operates under an American entity but is situated in the Republic of Moldova.
Officials recently met with the management team and employees to inquire about their working conditions, operational preparations, and the role Moldovans play in the company’s success.
Mihai Popșoi remarked that the presence of Moldovans in such companies demonstrates "the capacity and seriousness of our people." He emphasized that they "carry the name of the country forward, contribute to the local economy, and open doors for new collaborations."
Moldovan entrepreneurs succeeding in the U.S.
In addition to visiting C1 Holding, the delegation also explored Dynamic Investments, a company led by Vasile Sorocean that specializes in constructing industrial spaces and transporting heavy goods. The company has successfully built two new facilities using its own investments, demonstrating how Moldovan entrepreneurship has adapted to the American market.
In the Chicago area, the officials also visited Micola’s Savory Smokes, founded by entrepreneur Nicolae Ciobanu, who has transformed the tradition of smoking meat into a modern business with products made to high standards. The officials expressed their appreciation for the hard work and perseverance of Moldovan entrepreneurs in the United States, recognizing their contributions to enhancing the country’s image and fostering bilateral economic relations.
"Today, we held several meetings with our compatriots from various fields—young individuals with ambitious ideas who have established themselves and succeeded here, obtaining significant businesses and plans for the Republic of Moldova. We also met with officials who spoke highly of our Moldovans, noting their successful integration and contribution to a healthy and cohesive community," said Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu.
Engagement with the Diaspora and political meetings
Beyond economic visits, the delegation met with members of the Moldovan community at the Consulate General of the Republic of Moldova in Chicago, which opened in 2025.
This was followed by discussions with Congressman Bill Foster, who acknowledged the involvement of Moldovans in the region's economic life, and a meeting with Naperville's Mayor, Scott A. Wehrli.
