Anatolie Topala: "Quality studies mean first of all good teachers, relevant content and modern infrastructure"
Digitization and modernization of educational institutions in the country, as well as increasing the quality of studies are two of the priorities in the field of education, announced today by the Minister of Education, Anatolie Topala. In total, the Ministry of Education and Research aims to achieve five objectives that will contribute directly to economic growth by training highly qualified specialists in the coming years. Priorities include increasing access to quality education, especially for children and young people from vulnerable groups or those with disabilities.
One of the most important priorities to be achieved by the Ministry of Education and Research by 2030 is to increase the attractiveness and labour market relevance of studies. This objective involves modernising educational institutions, modernising the teaching process so that by 2024 new textbooks will be printed for several subjects.
"Quality studies mean first and foremost good teachers, relevant content and modern infrastructure. 13 universities and pedagogical colleges are undergoing a comprehensive process of transformation and modernisation. A new call for projects worth 210 million lei for universities and pedagogical colleges will be announced in the coming period," says Minister of Education and Research Anatolie Topala.
Another priority is to make the education process more efficient through digitisation tools, which involves developing the electronic catalogue in schools across the country, as well as modernising the E-Admissions system, a programme that allows the submission of documents for university admission online.
The third perspective is to strengthen human resources in the education system. To this end, the National Institute for Education and Leadership will be founded to help train teachers at European level.
"Priority number four: ensuring inclusive education for all pre-school children, pupils and students. To this end, the Republican Centre for Psycho-pedagogical Assistance will be reorganised to ensure the quality and efficiency of the field of psycho-pedagogical assistance. Priority number five is to increase social cohesion and resilience in the spirit of the values of open societies, stimulating young people to participate actively in social, cultural and economic life", added Anatolie Topala.
At the same time, the Strategy plans to increase the efficiency of research, inventions and innovations, which will ensure the alignment of the national education system with European requirements and values. The costs for the activities included in the action plan for the implementation of the Strategy in education will be covered from the state budget and external sources.
