Chișinău will host Black Sea Region Security Conference in March

The Republic of Moldova is set to host the third edition of the Black Sea Security Conference, organized under the auspices of the International Crimea Platform. This event will take place in Chisinau on March 23 and will continue the discussions on regional security that began at previous conferences held in Bucharest in 2023 and Sofia in 2024.
The conference will bring together top officials from the Republic of Moldova, Ukraine, partner states, the European Union (EU), NATO, as well as representatives from international organizations, businesses, civil society, and academia.
The purpose of the Black Sea Security Conference is to analyze the latest security developments in the region, assess the consequences of Russia’s ongoing military aggression against Ukraine, and formulate practical recommendations for strengthening regional resilience and security.
The program will include ministerial-level sessions, panel discussions featuring international institutions, and expert-moderated dialogues focused on achieving practical outcomes.
The main topics of discussion will include an analysis of recent developments in the security environment of the Black Sea, an assessment of the functioning of the Black Sea corridor to Ukrainian ports as a vital economic route, and strategies to eliminate risks related to maritime security and freedom of navigation in the Black Sea, especially those arising from Russian aggression. Furthermore, the conference will aim to identify practical responses and enhance security cooperation among the riparian states.
Additionally, participants will discuss the strategic importance of security in the Black Sea as a foundation for the European maritime strategy and a key element of European security architecture. Emphasis will be placed on ensuring maritime security through regional cooperation, boosting capacities within existing security structures, and sharing experiences and best practices. This will include presentations on Ukraine's use of advanced technological devices in modern warfare.
The meeting is co-organized by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Defense of the Republic of Moldova and Ukraine, with support from the European Union.
