The circus in Chisinau, under repair. The restoration of the building will cost millions of lei
The Chisinau Circus will be renovated. The original form of the edifice with a special architectural value will be preserved, and in the future, the building will be multifunctional and will have a panoramic terrace, a cinema and a concert hall. The competition for the selection of the company that will perform the facade replacement works was also recently launched.
The estimated cost for the renovation of the entire complex is over 11 million euros. In the first stage, the roof will be repaired. For this purpose, almost two million euros were allocated from European funds. The work could last until the end of this year. Now the Circus is functional and the performances take place only in the small hall.
"I went when I was even smaller, but the years have passed and we come with our grandchildren to the small arena, but when it's bigger it's even better."
"I haven't been to this big one, but I've been to the small one, every year we come ".
"But we don't know what it's like inside, we haven't been. It's a memory and something for the children, something good." "It needs to be repaired, because it really is a treasure of the state, which was built with people's money," people say.
The Chisinau Circus was built in 1981 and was officially inaugurated on April 25, 1982. It hosted impressive performances, and over 50 performances were held monthly. The circus operated at full capacity for more than two decades, until 2004, when it was closed for repairs. In 2022, the Chisinau Circus edifice was included in the Register of State Protected Monuments.
