Moldova State Tax Service intensifies compliance checks ahead of International Women's Day

The State Tax Service (SFS) of the Republic of Moldova has issued a formal reminder to retailers regarding tax compliance. As demand for flowers and gifts surges ahead of International Women’s Day, authorities emphasize the mandatory issuance of fiscal receipts.

The tax authority clarifies that only documents explicitly marked "BON FISCAL" constitute legal proof of a transaction. Standard printed slips or non-fiscal payment notes do not offer consumer protection.

Retailers are legally obligated to use certified fiscal devices for every sale. Correctly reporting income ensures a fair competitive environment and allows businesses to avoid significant penalties.

Consumer role in the formal economy

Citizens are encouraged to play an active role in reducing unreported economic activity. By requesting a fiscal receipt for every purchase, regardless of the amount, consumers protect their legal rights in case of product non-conformity.

Funding public infrastructure

Tax revenues collected from these transactions directly fund essential public services. This includes the healthcare system, pensions, education, and national infrastructure development.

The SFS maintains that fiscal transparency is a shared responsibility that supports the country's social and economic stability.
