Moldova updates Middle East travel alerts; Ben Gurion Airport resumes flights

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Chișinău continues to monitor security dynamics in the Middle East. Authorities are maintaining constant contact with Moldovan citizens through regional diplomatic missions as the situation evolves.
The MFA Crisis Cell is currently coordinating with embassies to provide real-time updates. Citizens are urged to follow official embassy pages for instructions on local security measures and travel availability.
Israel: Flight operations and restrictions
In Israel, the IDF Home Front Command has extended current security restrictions until Monday, March 9, 2026, at 20:00. However, the Israeli Ministry of Transport has initiated a gradual resumption of outbound travel.
Starting March 8, 2026, Ben Gurion Airport has resumed limited operations. Flights are currently restricted to El Al, Israir, Arkia, and Air Haifa, with passenger caps in place. Moldovans are advised to verify flight status directly with carriers.
Evacuation planning in the UAE and Qatar
In the United Arab Emirates, public infrastructure remains operational despite some commercial flight limitations. A FlyDubai flight from Dubai arrived in Chișinău on the afternoon of March 8.
The Moldovan Embassy in Abu Dhabi is currently analyzing extraction options for citizens registered on emergency lists. This effort is being coordinated alongside other international diplomatic missions in the region.
Regional monitoring continues
In Qatar, airspace has partially reopened, though air traffic remains significantly limited. The Embassy in Doha continues to process consular support requests and monitor local safety conditions.
Diplomatic missions in Turkey and Azerbaijan are also on high alert, tracking regional developments. Moldovan nationals across the Middle East are strictly advised to follow local authority directives and stay in touch with the nearest consulate.
