Moldovan driving licenses recognized in the UAE; agreement in force
Moldovan driving licenses are recognized in the United Arab Emirates. A Memorandum of Understanding regarding this was signed on February 3, 2026, and it became effective on March 17.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced that an agreement allows citizens of the Republic of Moldova to use their Moldovan driving licenses in the United Arab Emirates during temporary stays. This can be done without additional exams, as long as they comply with local regulations.
Additionally, citizens of the United Arab Emirates who hold a Moldovan driving license can exchange it for a local category B (light vehicles) license. This exchange does not require theoretical or practical exams, provided they meet the established criteria.
This measure simplifies procedures for Moldovan citizens living abroad and facilitates their mobility.
