Gura Galbenei modernizes: Over 7M lei invested in infrastructure & culture

The village of Gura Galbenei in the Cimișlia district is undergoing continuous modernization. Today, over 2,400 residents benefit from new infrastructure and improved living conditions due to the implementation of several local development projects. The investments made in the community have resulted in visible changes and have significantly enhanced the quality of life for the residents.

A major project funded by the "Europe is Close" Programme aims to rehabilitate a 1.2 km section of Vasile Lupu Str, which connects several key points in the town.
This street has not been repaired for over 30 years. Local people said that, when it rained, the road became impassable, and they have been waiting for years for the authorities to find a solution.
"There is a road that connects the cemetery with the town. It has been in terrible condition for 31 years, with only minor repairs done. It is essential because it provides access to the cemetery. When many cars come here, it connects with the 'Sinistrați' area, and there have been complaints that the gravel was washed away due to the rain," says Constantin Munteanu, the mayor of Gura Galbenei.
Residents appreciate the changes happening in the town and hope that new projects will support the village's development in the future.
"The roads were very bad; they were in an unpleasant state. I am elderly and have lived here for many years. There used to be a school nearby, and I remember it was a mess. It was very bad," one resident said.
"It is good to have more projects. The changes are visible; things are better now. It was not like this before, and we did not receive any help," another resident added.

Another project, implemented through the "European Village" Program, focused on the extensive renovation of the House of Culture's roof and the improvement of the surrounding area. The roof, which was over 40 years old, leaked whenever it rained, disrupting cultural activities held at the venue.

"No work has been done on the Cultural Center since its construction over 40 years ago. It is a typical cultural center housing the model ensembles 'Haiducii' and 'Ţărancuțele,' but we are striving for more progressive visions," says Radu Corlăteanu, director of the Cultural Center in Gura Galbenei.
Mihai Casapu, who has served as an accompanist at the Cultural Center for many years, recalls the time when the building's roof was in a severe state of disrepair.
"It was in very bad condition and quite old. The roof of the Cultural Center had holes, causing rain to enter all the rooms," states Mihai Casapu.
"I know the workers on the second floor mentioned that water was leaking. It has been a while since it was addressed. The repair work is excellent, and guests have noted the improvements, saying it looks very good now."

Over 7.3 million lei were allocated from the National Fund for Regional and Local Development to implement two projects. The village of Gura Galbenei in Cimișlia has a population of over 2,400 inhabitants, including more than 500 children.
