Hristo Botev's monument is renovated in the capital
Renovation of the monument to Bulgarian poet, revolutionary and national hero Hristo Botev is underway in Chisinau, the Academic Society of Bulgarian Studies in Moldova said Monday. As part of the restoration process, the landscaping of the area around the monument is also planned, BTA reported, quoted by MOLDPRES.
The project is funded by the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry within the framework of the Bulgarian development aid programme. The total cost of the project is 38,293 leva, of which the Bulgarian side is providing 33 thousand leva. Consultancy and documentation support was provided by the Cultural Heritage Institute of the Ministry of Culture of Moldova and the Chisinau City Hall.
The Hristo Botev Monument is the second most important Bulgarian monument in Moldova after the Shipka Monument. It has not been renovated since it was erected 46 years ago. The deadline for restoration work is 2 June 2023.
