Ministry of Defence, after several citizens complained that they received call-up orders to military centres by SMS: "Another fake!"
The Ministry of Defence comes with clarifications, after several citizens have complained that they received call-up orders to the Territorial Military Centre Straseni via text messages. The institution gives assurances that it did not send such messages and claims that it is either an international disinformation campaign or a "tasteless" joke.
"A new hoax, distributed via SMS! The National Army never sends out call-up orders via SMS. If you have received such a message, it is either a sick joke or an intentional disinformation campaign," reads the information note issued by the Ministry of Defence.
The Ministry of Defence reiterates, in the context, that orders to call for exercises with reservists are handed out personally by representatives of territorial military centres, town halls or through economic agents at work.
"Call-up orders are only sent on paper and never by text message. We ask citizens to be vigilant and not to let themselves be manipulated!", the institution adds.
