Moldovan publishers showcase books at Bookfest Bucharest
Publishing houses from the Republic of Moldova will participate in the Bookfest Bucharest 2026 book fair with a joint stand. The 19th edition of the fair is scheduled to take place from June 3 to 7 at Romexpo.
For five days, the Union of Publishers of the Republic of Moldova will host over 20 events at their booth, including book launches, literary dialogues, workshops for children, and autograph sessions. Attendees will have the chance to meet writers, publishers, translators, and literary critics from both banks of the Prut.
Gheorghe Prini, the President of the Union of Publishers and director of the Știința Publishing House, stated that participation in Bookfest is “an investment in the visibility of books” in the Republic of Moldova, as well as an opportunity to develop collaborative relationships with authors, publishing houses, and book distributors in Romania.
“Through these joint participations, we aim to strengthen the presence of publishers from the Republic of Moldova at international fairs, foster new collaborations, and bring our literature closer to the Romanian public,” said Gheorghe Prini.
At Bookfest Bucharest 2026, the Știința Publishing House will showcase new releases from the “Moștenire” collection, a significant project aimed at recovering and promoting Romanian literary heritage.
The agenda also includes the launch of the volume “Cărtărescu,” coordinated by Iulian Boldea at the Cartier Publishing House, as well as launches of contemporary poetry and prose organized by the Prut and Cartego Publishing Houses. Additionally, the ARC Publishing House will host reading workshops for children.
Currently, around ten publishing houses from the Republic of Moldova are exporting books across the Prut, with growing interest in their authors and collections. The president of the Publishers’ Union noted that in 2024, book exports from the Republic of Moldova exceeded 147,000 copies, generating over 8.6 million lei in revenue.
