The Republic of Moldova wants to improve the process of recovering stolen state assets: Maia Sandu met with a French delegation
The Moldovan authorities want to learn from France's experience on how to improve the efficiency of the process of recovering stolen state assets. The subject was discussed by President Maia Sandu during a meeting with the director of the French Agency for the Management and Recovery of Seized and Confiscated Assets (AGRASC), Nicolas Bessone.
The head of state noted that the government must propose changes to the legal framework and strengthen the capacity of institutions to enable effective recovery of criminal assets and their return to the state budget.
The recovered money could be used to finance public services, including for the recovery of the situation in the areas affected by the crimes concerned, a press release from the presidential institution said.
The French state is also helping to manage assets seized in France and is providing expertise to the National Anti-Corruption Centre (CNA) and the Agency for the Recovery of Criminal Assets (ARBI).
