ANRE extends Moldovagaz gas supply to Tiraspol

Moldovagaz will remain the entity responsible for supplying natural gas to the Transnistrian region. The decision was approved by the Board of the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) at its June 9 meeting.
Moldovagaz's designation as the supplier responsible for delivering natural gas to the Transnistrian region has been extended until December 31, 2026.
"The measure aims to ensure the continuity of natural gas supplies and strengthen supply security in the Transnistrian region, as the current designation expires on June 30, 2026," ANRE said in a press release.
The regulator cited "the need to maintain existing operational and contractual mechanisms without interruption", including those related to transmission, balancing, flexibility, and other ancillary services.
"The extension also enables efficient planning of transmission capacity bookings and ensures the predictability of processes necessary for the operation of the natural gas supply system," the statement added.
The decision follows a proposal by the Ministry of Energy to extend Moldovagaz's responsibilities for another six months.
The company is required to establish and maintain natural gas reserves for consumers in the Transnistrian region.
Since February 2025, gas deliveries to the Transnistrian region have been carried out under a Russia-backed scheme involving several companies registered in the United Arab Emirates and the Hungarian company MET. Under this arrangement, gas is delivered to Moldovagaz, which ANRE has designated as the supplier responsible for ensuring gas supplies to the region.
