Ilie Bolojan calls new PM appointment a “hostile act”

Ilie Bolojan, Romania's interim Prime Minister and President of the National Liberal Party (PNL), expressed that he was not informed of President Nicușor Dan's intention to appoint Adrian Veștea as Prime Minister. He views this action as a hostile move and an attempt to undermine the National Liberal Party (PNL).
Ilie Bolojan stated, "This is a hostile act and an obvious attempt to undermine the PNL. The intention has been clear since the government was overthrown in favour of the Social Democratic Party."
He further added, "Attempting to impose a prime minister from among its ranks on a party, without prior consultation and after all decisions were made unanimously by the party's forums, violates the fundamental principles of loyal political collaboration."
The PNL leader announced that the party would make a decision in the National Political Bureau.
On the morning of Sunday, June 14, Adrian Veștea was appointed as prime minister after Eugen Tomac resigned. The announcement was made at Cotroceni Palace by President Nicușor Dan, who was accompanied by both men.
Romania has been without a fully empowered government for a month following the dismissal of Ilie Bolojan. This dismissal occurred on May 5 due to a motion of censure initiated by the Social Democratic Party and the Alliance for the Unity of Romanians.
