Dorin Recean, after the meeting of the Committee on European Integration: "We are speeding up the process of building Europe at home"
Members of the Governmental Commission for European Integration met today for the first meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dorin Recean. According to the Government, two topics were on the agenda of the meeting: the examination of our country's contribution to the European Commission's annual enlargement package and the granting of the bonus for performing priority tasks in the context of implementing the EU accession requirements.
The Chief Executive thanked officials from national institutions for their efforts in the process of preparing the national contribution and stressed the need to speed up all processes related to the implementation of the European Commission's recommendations.
"We are speeding up the process of building Europe at home. Transposing European directives into national legislation is not a process of copying the text, but adjusting it to our realities, including the provision of transition periods. Behind us are citizens, business people, national institutions, who also have to go through this transformation", said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.
During the Commission meeting, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu spoke about the progress made so far, but also about the existing constraints, highlighting the importance of appointing, in the nearest future, a representative from the leadership of each ministry to be exclusively involved in the European integration process.
"All 35 sectoral working groups, organised according to the political criterion, the economic criterion and the 33 chapters of EU legislation, are operational. The Inter-institutional Coordination Group, which met on 3 March and 12 April 2023, is operational," said Minister Nicu Popescu.
The Commission members approved Moldova's contribution to the European Commission's Enlargement Package for 2023 and adopted the decision to establish the list and the maximum number of persons, estimated per public authority, to be granted the bonus for the performance of priority tasks in the context of the implementation of EU accession efforts. The promotion of the allocation of financial resources is to be adopted in the Government meeting.
