Nicu Popescu: Romania's support for Moldova remains unwavering

Romania's support for the Republic of Moldova remains unwavering. This is the conclusion of Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu's return from Bucharest, where the trilateral meeting Republic of Moldova - Romania - Ukraine took place. The head of diplomacy in Chisinau thanked Romania for all the support given to modernise our country.

In a post on social media, Foreign Minister Nicu Popescu wrote that he had several meetings with senior officials, including his counterpart Bogdan Aurescu. Popescu says that Romania supports us with concrete projects, such as building bridges, kindergartens, repairing universities and schools - all for the benefit of all Moldovan citizens.

At the same time, the Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister also met with the President of the Chamber of Deputies of the Romanian Parliament, Marcel Ciolacu. Discussions focused on several issues, including the Balti - Suceava overhead power line, which will increase Romania's electricity transfer capacity.

Popescu also held talks with NATO Deputy Secretary General Mircea Geoană, who reiterated the organisation's support for strengthening Moldova's defence capabilities through various partnerships and dialogues we have with NATO.

At the same time, the Minister of Foreign Affairs attended the Black Sea Security Conference. In his speech, Nicu Popescu said that the Republic of Moldova is a European country that embraces democracy, freedom and respect for human rights and that thanks to these values and to the good work done at home, our country will be a full member of the European Union.
