The Kingdom of the Netherlands opens an embassy in Chisinau. Nicu Popescu met with the first ambassador of this country
Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration, Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu met with the first ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Chisinau Fred Duijn. Popescu thanked the Dutch diplomat for his constant support in the process of Moldova's accession to the European Union and welcomed the opening of the diplomatic mission in Chisinau.
"We welcomed the decision to open an embassy in Chisinau, which will contribute to strengthening ties and intensifying political dialogue between our countries. This is also a strong message of support for the security of our country and the region. The fact that Embassies come and do not leave is good for us. I am confident that this new embassy will play an important role in promoting economic, commercial and cultural cooperation between Moldova and the Netherlands", Nicu Popescu noted on his Telegram account.
Nicu Popescu reaffirmed Moldova's firm commitment to European values and expressed confidence that close cooperation with the Netherlands and the other EU member states will lead to progress towards accession to the EU.
The head of Moldova's diplomacy Nicu Popescu will host the Foreign Minister of the Netherlands, Wopke Hoekstra, in Chisinau tomorrow.
The Republic of Moldova established diplomatic relations with the Kingdom of the Netherlands in July 1992. The two countries have concluded 21 bilateral treaties and agreements.
The Kingdom of the Netherlands provides assistance to the Republic of Moldova through the Programme for Economic Cooperation with Developing Markets (PSOM).
The Republic of Moldova benefits from the CBI (Centre for the Promotion of Imports from Developing Countries) programmes, which include technical assistance, expertise and the organisation of exhibitions of domestic production in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
