Joe Biden asked voters to give him more time to "finish the job" he started when he was sworn in and to put aside concerns about extending the oldest US president's term for another four years.

Joe Biden, who would turn 86 at the end of a second term, is counting on his first-term legislative accomplishments and more than 50 years of Washington experience to outweigh concerns about his age, AP notes.

He appears to have an easy path ahead of him to win his party's nomination with no serious Democratic rivals, but is nonetheless prepared for a tough fight to retain his presidency in a bitterly divided nation.

The announcement, in a three-minute video, comes on the four-year anniversary of Joe Biden's announcement for the White House in 2019, promising to heal the "soul of the nation" amid Donald Trump's turbulent presidency - a goal that has remained elusive.
