State Flag Day // Maia Sandu: Regardless of political colour, we must now be united under the colours of the tricolour

Today, the Republic of Moldova marks the State Flag Day. On this occasion, a festive ceremony was held in front of the Government House, attended by the country's top leadership.

"In 2023, we can carry the flag proudly and unhindered, whenever and wherever we are. The flag reminds us all of unity. Moldova is sovereign, independent and indivisible. Regardless of political colour, now, more than ever, we must be united under the colours of the tricolour, working together, side by side, to build a prosperous, secure and European Moldova, a Moldova we can be unconditionally proud of. Long live the State Flag! Long live the Republic of Moldova!", said Head of State Maia Sandu.

The Day of the National Flag of the Republic of Moldova was established by the Parliament in Chisinau in April 2010, but for the first time the Day of the Tricolour was designated on 27 April 1990, by the deputies of the first Parliament, the tricolour being hoisted on the same day on the building of the legislative forum.

The State Flag symbolises the past, present and future of the country, reflects its democratic principles, historical tradition, equal rights, friendship and solidarity of the people of the Republic of Moldova.
