Chișinău Airport reopens after false bomb threat

Chișinău International Airport resumed normal operations Saturday after specialized security units cleared a false bomb threat that prompted terminal evacuations and suspended passenger check-in procedures earlier in the day.
Specialized bomb-disposal teams from Moldova's Ministry of Internal Affairs inspected the entire complex and declared the terminal safe. Authorities confirmed that passengers were permitted to re-enter the facility and resume their scheduled departures.
Repeated disruption at aviation hub
The incident marks the second bomb hoax at the airport in 48 hours. A similar threat on Friday, October 2, forced an evacuation and delayed flights until operations resumed around 6:00 p.m.
Aviation authorities urged travelers to anticipate minor schedule adjustments and monitor updates closely.
“We advise passengers to track flight statuses in real time on the airport’s digital board and follow official announcements,” the Border Police said. “In cooperation with national security agencies, we continue to enforce comprehensive measures to ensure citizen safety and state security.”
