Moldova launches EU-backed EduResurse digital platform

Moldova's Ministry of Education launched on Tuesday a national digital repository offering open access to more than 20,000 educational resources, designed to modernize schooling across the country without requiring user registration.
The new portal, EduResurse, aggregates interactive textbooks, lesson plans, and instructional video lectures for preschool, primary, gymnasium, and lyceum education. Financed by the European Union and implemented alongside international development partners, the platform centralizes teaching materials previously scattered across fragmented portals.
Open access and Artificial Intelligence tools
Users can navigate the system by educational tier, subject, and language of instruction to view materials online or download them directly without creating accounts. The repository also incorporates digital interactive textbooks that support structured chapter-by-chapter study.
“When designing the EduResurse platform, we considered three core principles: accessibility, openness, and quality, because this serves as a national educational resource hub,” said Mariana Gurghiș, a digitalization expert involved in the project.
Beyond standard search filters, the portal features an integrated artificial intelligence assistant designed to help educators, students, and parents identify relevant resources for specific topics or exam preparation. The catalog includes specialized preparation materials for secondary school graduation exams as well as introductory artificial intelligence lessons for high school students.
Bridging divides and strengthening human capital
Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun underscored the strategic importance of donor assistance in modernizing the national curriculum and equipping schools.
“We thank the European Union for its generous support for this platform and for the digital modernization of education in the Republic of Moldova,” said Perciun, noting ongoing joint school infrastructure initiatives with UNICEF.
European Union Ambassador to Moldova Iwona Piórko highlighted that open-access digital platforms help eliminate disparities between urban and rural school communities.
“This platform will provide every child, regardless of location or circumstance, with access to useful educational resources,” Piórko said, praising inter-agency cooperation between the ministry, UNICEF, and UNDP.
UNICEF Country Representative Deyana Kostadinova emphasized that expanding digital learning capabilities remains vital as Moldova navigates shifting demographic realities and advances along its European Union integration trajectory.
“Moldova’s population is shrinking and aging, while the country is becoming increasingly digitalized,” Kostadinova said. “In this context, the knowledge, skills, health, resilience, and capabilities of every child become a cornerstone of national development.”
