8,120 families will receive vouchers for new appliances, totaling around 57 million lei from the state budget

Another 8,120 families will receive support to replace their old household appliances with new, energy-efficient ones under a new round of the EcoVoucher program. The current edition runs from October 13 to November 1, 2026, and has a total budget of approximately 57 million lei, fully funded by the state budget.

Beneficiary families will receive vouchers with a face value of 7,000 lei. They will cover up to 70% of the equipment's purchase price, with the buyer paying the remainder.

Ion Muntean, Director of the National Center for Sustainable Energy (CNED), notes that the results of the EcoVoucher program are measurable: families reduce their energy consumption and can use the money saved for other household needs.

"Amid the challenges facing the energy sector, any measure that helps households consume less energy and better manage their expenses contributes to increasing their resilience," Muntean stated.

According to Ministry of Energy estimates, energy efficiency measures applied to equipment and household appliances can generate energy savings of up to 33 GWh per year.

"For families, this means lower energy consumption and lower bills," said Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu, as quoted in a CNED press release.

Vouchers are distributed first to families with the most minor children and to households where at least two people over 63 live. Ten percent of the total available vouchers are reserved for persons with severe disabilities.

Under the program, beneficiaries can purchase refrigerators in energy classes A, B, C, and D, as well as washing machines in energy class A, provided they meet energy efficiency criteria and European conformity standards. Since the program's launch, 43,366 families have received vouchers for new household appliances, purchasing 20,637 refrigerators and 22,692 washing machines. Beneficiaries are notified via SMS or email and can access their vouchers through the compensatii.gov.md platform.

According to data from the CNED, the more than 43,000 appliances purchased under the program generate annual savings of approximately 8.85 million kWh, equivalent to around 32.7 million lei.

The EcoVoucher program was developed by the Government of the Republic of Moldova with financial support from the European Union and is implemented by the National Center for Sustainable Energy, in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy.
