The leader of the Wagner mercenary group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, has accused Russia's defence minister and chief of staff of leaving his men without ammunition in a video message and showed the bodies of dozens of fighters who were allegedly killed during fighting in Bahmut.

"These are the Wagner boys who died today. Their blood is still fresh. They are someone's fathers, someone's sons," Prigojin said.

An air raid warning sounded yesterday evening in Kiev. Several attacks destroyed residential buildings and specialists from Ukraine's State Emergency Service responded to the scene. People tell horrified stories of yesterday's attacks, saying they were trapped in the metro because of the bombing.

"We heard terrible things. There was shooting. The air defence systems were working."

"They were flying over the house. There was shooting from all directions. It sounded like it was coming from the sea over there. It also flew over the school. There was a shot there. The windows and doors of the school were smashed."

"Witnesses saw they were right next to us, look at the video. I got stuck in the subway. They opened fire. I saw the billboard and immediately realized it was my neighborhood, it shook me. I saw something, it was a local store."

Yesterday was Russia's most intense air strike on Kiev. All Russian missiles and drones, which targeted the Ukrainian capital, were destroyed.
