Preparations for the European Political Community Summit on 1 June are in full swing. Several explosions were heard today in the Ciocana sector of the capital, and the security forces intervened with the Black Hawk helicopter on the roof of a deserted building. Moldovan and Polish police officers simulated an exercise to free several hostages.
Officers from the "Fulger" together with policemen from Poland surrounded an abandoned building in the Ciocana sector of the capital, and according to the scenario, five people were being held inside by force. The policemen climbed down on ropes from the roof of the building, and later, several explosions were heard.
There were also helicopter applications. Eventually, the masked men managed to rescue the five people and the terrorists were handcuffed.
Exercises were also carried out last night. Police officers tested a state-of-the-art technology, "Night vision", which increases visibility at night. According to law enforcement officers, such exercises will be carried out throughout May in the context of the European Political Community Summit.
Around 50 heads of state and government and European Union officials are due to meet in Moldova on 1 June.
