South Korea to provide Ukraine with $130 million in donations and loans

South Korea signed an agreement with Ukraine on Wednesday for a $130 million aid package. It comes a day after Ukraine's first lady visited the country and asked for military assistance, Agerpres reports.

Seoul's Ministry of Finance announced that Minister Choo Kyung-ho and Ukrainian Economy Minister Yulia Svyrenko, who is in Seoul to attend a conference, have signed the agreement on the aid package, which will consist of grants and loans.

South Korea, a major producer of artillery shells, announced it would not supply lethal weapons to Ukraine, citing its relations with Russia.

But Yoon said in an interview with Reuters last month that the government might "not just insist on humanitarian or financial support" if civilians in Ukraine come under large-scale attack or because of a situation that "the international community cannot tolerate".
