The government last November called for the outlawing of the Șor Party, which it accuses of acting in contradiction with the principles of the rule of law and endangering Moldova's sovereignty and independence, being financed from abroad and supported by Russian secret services.
The complaint also stated that in all the elections in which it took part, the "Șor" party was sanctioned for violations of electoral legislation, including illegal financing. The complaint was filed shortly after the United States imposed sanctions on the „Șor” Party under the Magitki Act.
The party's leader, Ilan Șor, the fugitive recently sentenced to 15 years in the bank fraud case, calls the government's move a political order.
