The Republic of Moldova and the USA signed an Agreement on air transport liberalisation
The Governments of the Republic of Moldova and the United States of America signed on Thursday, May 18, the Agreement on Air Transport Liberalization. It will allow direct flights from Chisinau to destinations in the United States and vice versa, said Lilia Dabija, Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development. The US representatives noted that the agreement is an important step towards more investment in this area.
The Moldovan-American cooperation agreement in the field of air transport, called "Open Skies", is of strategic importance for both countries and will have a considerable economic and social impact, said Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development Lilia Dabija.
"Today we have the opportunity to sign a cooperation agreement with economic, social and strategic impact, which will contribute to the further strengthening of bilateral relations between our countries, which will bring us economic benefits and, ultimately, will also improve infrastructure, mobility, good relations between our air operators. I wish to see as many flights as possible from Moldova to the United States and vice versa ", said Lilia Dabija.
For his part, US Assistant Secretary of State for Management and Resources Richard Verma said a lot of work had gone into the signing of the Agreement.
*"This establishes modern aviation links between the Republic of Moldova and the United States, and will help airlines provide more convenient, affordable and efficient services to users. This builds on an already strong bilateral relationship. It is an important step towards more investment, closer ties between our countries and security and helping Moldova's efforts to ensure a strong and transparent business environment," said Richard Verma.
The agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the United States of America on air transport has been in the process of being signed for several years. The endorsement procedure started in 2017, and its signing was approved by the Executive in Chisinau in February this year.
The Republic of Moldova has air services agreements with 20 countries, including Romania, Turkey and others, and the number is constantly growing.
