"If we manage to help Ukraine to come to the European family, it means that Moldova is coming to Europe, Georgia is coming to Europe and for the first time in the national history of this country, called Romania, we will no longer be a border country. It is important, beyond this war, because Europe is being reconfigured", explained Mircea Geoană.

The Deputy Secretary General of NATO also added that "the Republic of Moldova is a country that needs support now, because for a country like this, a chance to escape from the curse of geography and return to civilized Europe and to all of us arises from twice a century".

"We are very interested in the Republic of Moldova, it is a country that needs support now and including in Washington, in Brussels, in my job in the relationship with Paris, in the relationship with all the big capitals I advocate for the cause of the Republic of Moldova, because for a country as the Republic of Moldova, a chance to escape from the curse of geography and return to civilized Europe and to all of us appears twice a century. Again, the cards are reset in Europe and beyond Ukraine, which is a heavy and important piece on the chessboard, it is very important for us, as an Alliance, and for us, as Romanians, to be sure that the Republic of Moldova also comes to Europe", declared Mircea Geoană.

He also added that if this happens, it means that "Romania is no longer on the periphery of Europe and that it is coming to the new economic, political and technological center of gravity of Europe".

"It is for Romania and for us, the eastern flank, strengthened with Finland, with Sweden, a formidable chance, which in a way goes beyond the subject of Ukraine. It is about a new architecture of political, economic, strategic security in Europe and in the world", he said.
