Six candidates submitted their files to the competition for the position of director of the National Energy Regulatory Agency. The deadline is June 7. As for the creation of the Regulatory and Competition Authority through the merger of ANRE and the Competition Council, proposed in the fall of 2021, Radu Marian told us that this reform was put on hold because of the crises we went through in 2022.
"Multiple crises came, the energy crisis, the war, and then it was not really appropriate to have such a systemic reform. We have to see if we have overcome the acute stage of the crisis, to analyze that project, but somehow it is a medium and long-term perspective. Now it is important to ensure the full functionality of ANRE and for this reason we have this competition to fill this vacancy."
We remind you that the director's chair remained vacant after Octavian Calmîc left his position in the summer of 2022. We remind that ANRE's Board of Directors is made up of five directors who are appointed by the Parliament for a period of six years.
