European Union to provide Moldova with a €40 million grant

The government approved the draft law on the ratification of the Financing Agreement between the Republic of Moldova and the European Commission on the EU Resilience and Governance Programme. The document, which was signed on 11 May, provides for €40 million in grant assistance.

"The assistance is provided to strengthen the resilience of the state and society, to support the socio-economic recovery of the country, with a focus on good governance, stability and peace, and to provide inclusive opportunities," the government said in a statement.

The financial resources will be used to support the development of the country's human capital and the promotion of gender equality, to contribute to national stability and territorial integrity, and to create stronger, more sustainable agri-food systems that are more resilient to external shocks and crises.

The agreement is part of the European Union's 2022 Annual Action Plan for the Republic of Moldova, funded under the European Commission's Neighbourhood, Development Cooperation and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI) - Global Europe for the 2022 budget year.

The operational implementation period is 2023-2026.
