Farmers arrive with protests in Chisinau. Police warn that traffic could be affected on several streets

Farmers continue their protests even though talks were held with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry. Today, they will arrive in Chisinau with agricultural machinery. The police estimate that the farmers will enter the capital at 10:00 and warn that traffic on several streets of Chisinau could be affected.

"In the context of the protest organized today by the farmers, the General Police Inspectorate informs that they intend to enter the Chisinau municipality around 10:00 on Muncești str., Calea Orheiului str. and Hîncești str. Later, several units of agricultural machinery will move to the Great National Assembly Square where the protest action is expected," reads the Police statement.

Traffic could be affected on several streets in the capital, and we urge drivers to avoid traveling on the following streets: Calea Orheiului str. - Tudor Vladimirescu str. - bd. Grigore Vieru - G. Bănulescu str. - Bodoni - PMAN; Muncesti str. - bd. Iu. Gagarin - str. C. Negruzzi - bd. Saint Stephen the Great - PMAN; Hîncești road - Gh. Asachi str. - A. Pușkin str. - PMAN;

The police state that it is expected to move several units of agricultural machinery from PMAN to bld. Saint Stephen the Great to the roundabout in Calea Ieșilor str. with the subsequent return to PMAN.

Law enforcement will accompany the columns of farmers to ensure public order and smooth traffic.

The law enforcement officers ask the participants in the protests, but also the citizens, to show understanding towards the public order and safety measures, to respect the Law and the instructions of the law enforcement agencies, so that the actions take place in optimal conditions.

"We urge both the organizers and the participants to show responsibility and not admit violations," the Police statement reads.

Farmers' protests that started on June 7 continue despite numerous discussions with Government representatives. Farmers say they are unhappy with the increase in fuel prices and the almost three-fold increase in loan interest. Today, they intend to arrive with agricultural machinery in the center of the capital. They brought the equipment to the entrances to Chisinau, where four parking spaces were authorized.
