Ilan Șor, sentenced to 15 years in prison, continues to engage in politics from afar. However, he could be sent back to Moldova because Israel extradites its own citizens. The justice ministry has translated the court of appeal's sentence and sent it to the Israeli authorities, but has not yet received a reply.

"We can say that there are three options, so one would be to admit the extradition request, but decide two issues. Either they extradite him to serve his sentence in the Republic of Moldova, or he remains to serve his sentence on the territory of Israel. And already the third option would be to reject the request. We believe that we have all the arguments to admit it. However, as far as the decision as to where it is executed is concerned, it is the decision of the Israeli authorities. But we are happy that there have been cases in Israel's experience where they have extradited citizens", explained Justice Minister Veronica Mihailov-Moraru.
