Green energy for culture. The "Ginta Latină" Center - the first public cultural institution that will use renewable energy

On the roof of the "Ginta Latina" Culture and Art Center, 220 photovoltaic panels were installed, capable of generating 120 MWh of ecological electricity per year.

"We managed to complete this very important project, I don't think so much for our building. It is a first step for all institutions in the Republic of Moldova, especially today, when we have a severe crisis", said Nicu Țarină, theatre director.

The photovoltaic plant will be able to cover the entire electricity consumption of the Center during the sunny season and most of the consumption in the colder months.

"It is a good opportunity to highlight the benefits of renewable energy, which also contributes to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions," said Constantin Borosan, State Secretary in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development.

According to the financiers, the project is the first of its kind. They also hope that the initiative to use green energy will inspire other cultural centres.

"Green energy is actually about breaking free from all shackles. It allows the theatre to save money, a lot of money, huge money, to redirect it into cultural products. Without energy you can't light the stage, you can't highlight the work of art", said Sergiu Prodan, Minister of Culture.

"It is our responsibility to play a key role in the clean energy transition. A smart world must be a green world," said Guo Min, a representative of a telecommunications company.

The value of the project is two million lei. The money was provided by the Ministry of Culture and a telecommunications equipment manufacturing company in the People's Republic of China.
