Spain devastated by record-breaking rains
Heavy rains cause widespread damage in Spain, killing five people and leaving three missing. Rescue workers have responded to over 1,900 calls for help in the past few hours. In two towns in the centre of the country, residents were forced to climb onto roofs, and authorities sent helicopters to rescue them.
In the affected areas, roads have become impassable and several bridges have collapsed.
A 10-year-old boy spent eight hours in a tree to escape the devastating floods that have hit Spain in recent days.
Five people have been killed. A man was found dead by police during a rescue mission, and another man died as rescuers tried to reach him. According to local media, he drowned in an elevator. Police have also announced that another body, that of a 50-year-old man, was found near a river in Toledo. Two other people have also lost their lives due to the floods.
