Turkish police detain suspects in PKK bombings in Ankara

Turkish police have detained several suspects in connection with two recent bombings in Ankara, the capital of Turkey. The bombings, which occurred on Sunday and Monday, were claimed by the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a militant group that is considered a terrorist organisation by Turkey, the United States, and the European Union.

In the first attack, a suicide bomber detonated a bomb near the entrance to the Turkish Interior Ministry. The bomber was killed in the explosion, and two police officers were injured. In the second attack, a gunman opened fire on a police station, killing himself and injuring two officers.

The Turkish government has vowed to crack down on PKK activity in Turkey. On Monday, the Turkish military launched airstrikes against PKK targets in northern Iraq.
