Deputy Prime Minister Nicu Popescu discussed with the Minister of State for Europe, Laurence Boone, ways to speed up the EU accession process
The methods of boosting the accession process of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union were discussed during the meeting of the head of diplomacy from Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, with Laurence Boone, Minister of State for Europe of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The talks between the two officials took place in Paris, on the sidelines of the Peace Forum.
Nicu Popescu reiterated the fact that the Republic of Moldova is ready to start accession negotiations in the shortest possible time, as the authorities in Chisinau are currently in an extensive process of self-assessment of the conformity of national legislation with the Community acquis.
"We are also engaged in a continuous dialogue with our French partners regarding the recognition of driver's licenses and the signing of a social protection agreement," said the head of diplomacy from Chisinau in a post on his Facebook page.
We also have excellent defense cooperation, with France helping us modernize the National Army. We continue to count on the firm support of our friends and partners in the French Republic, said Nicu Popescu.
"In the same way, I expressed my gratitude for the participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of France, Catherine Colonna, at the fourth edition of the Support Platform for Moldova, held in October in Chisinau. Thanks to this involvement, including the generous support of France, our country managed to overcome the numerous crises generated by the unjust war of the Russian Federation against Ukraine and will now focus on the development of long-term infrastructure projects", pointed out the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nicu Popescu.
