The Central Electoral Commission: Residents of a village decided to boycott the elections

Residents of Chioselia Rusa village, Cantemir District, decided not to participate in the election, while in Cotovsc settlement from Gagauzia the turnout is less than 1%. The announcement was made by the Central Electoral Commission President, Angelica Caraman.

Also, a weak turnout is attested in the village of Salcia from Taraclia District, where only 2.5% of the voters attended the polls.

At the other extreme, Corjova from Dubasari District is to be the settlement with the highest turnout. By 1:00 p.m. there had been attested a rate of over 41 percent there.

At the same time, in the 8 settlements of the Municipality of Chisinau, around 16% of the voters had exercised their right to vote until 1:00 p.m. The voters from the Town of Vadul lui Voda are the most active ones. There about 25 percent voted. At the opposite pole, just over 13% of the voters came to the polls in the Commune of Bubuieci. In the Municipality of Balti, there has been registered a voting participation of about 12%. In the Municipality of Comrat from the Autonomy of Gagauzia – over 18%.

Overall, by 1.00 p.m. about 162 thousand voters or about 19% of the citizens with voting rights included in the electoral lists had exercised their right to vote.

The Central Electoral Commission President mentioned that the elections will be declared valid, if at least 20 percent of the number of persons registered in the electoral lists participate in them. „According to the recent information, we mention that this participation rate was reached in 178 localities.”, said the Central Electoral Commission President.

At the same time, Angelica Caraman mentioned that, according to the data of the General Police Inspectorate, 23 cases of violations or incidents had been registered until 1:00 p.m. Here are some of them:

7 cases relate to the prohibited electoral agitation,

5 cases of organized transportation of voters,

2 situations of reasonable suspicion of voter corruption,

3 cases of photographing the ballot,

6 cases regarding violations of the electoral process.

In this context, the Central Electoral Commission repeatedly drew attention to the need to comply with the legal norms related to electoral agitation, which is strictly forbidden during the election day.
