The Central Electoral Commission: 140 cases of violations or incidents had been registered before polling stations closed
According to the preliminary data, in all the 273 settlements where the second round of voting was held, the elections are declared valid, because a turnout of more than 20% was recorded, announced the President of the Central Electoral Commission, Angelica Caraman. Meanwhile, before the polling stations were closed, 140 violations and incidents had been recorded. Most of them relate to the organized transportation of voters. More than 313,000 voters or approximately 37% participated in the second round of the general local elections.
Today, the voters were expected to choose their mayor in six localities as well as the local councils in eight localities in the country. "The electoral law states that repeated voting is considered valid regardless of the number of voters who participated in the voting," stated Angelica Caraman.
Among these localities, the turnout was of 13.88% in Nicolaevca, Floresti, in Salcia and Aluatu from Taraclia District, approximately 12 % each, in Cotovsko, Gagauzia - just over 3% and in Chioselia Rusa - less than one percent.
According to the President of the Central Electoral Commission, before the polling stations were closed, 140 cases of violations or incidents had been registered. 45 cases of organized transportation of voters, 27 cases of photographing the ballot, 26 cases of prohibited electoral agitation and 5 cases of corruption of voters.
