As of October 31, 2023, this figure exceeded 4.24 million, indicating the ongoing impact of the humanitarian crisis.

Germany leads the way in hosting displaced Ukrainians, with over 1.2 million individuals receiving temporary protection. Poland and the Czech Republic follow closely, with approximately 960,000 and 364,000 beneficiaries, respectively.

The data further highlights the widespread nature of the crisis, with beneficiary numbers increasing in all EU countries except Denmark since September 2023. Notably, Germany, the Czech Republic, and the Netherlands witnessed the most substantial increases.

Recently, the European Council made the decision to extend temporary protection for Ukrainians fleeing the conflict until March 4, 2025, demonstrating the EU's continued commitment to supporting those impacted by the war.

Analysis of the data reveals that Ukrainian citizens represent over 98% of temporary protection beneficiaries. Furthermore, adult women constitute nearly half (46.4%) of the total, with children representing almost a third (33.4%) and adult men slightly over a fifth (20.2%).

The distribution of beneficiaries across the EU varies, with the highest numbers per 1,000 inhabitants observed in the Czech Republic (33.7), Estonia (26.3), Poland and Bulgaria (both 26.1), and Lithuania (25.8). These statistics underscore the significant burden borne by these countries in hosting a large influx of displaced Ukrainians.
