Prime Minister asks the MAI to increase the number of employees at customs and the airport during the winter holidays

Prime Minister Dorin Recean asks the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) to increase the number of employees in customs and the airport during the winter holidays. Also, the head of the Executive urged the institutions to mobilize and to activate at maximum capacity for the safety of citizens, the prevention of antisocial acts and the maintenance of the climate of order and public peace.

"The holidays are approaching and then I will ask all the institutions to mobilize better. I especially want to draw attention to the situation in customs and at the airport, to supplement resources. I am asking the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to increase the number of border police and customs officers so that we can process as soon as possible. We will also talk to Bucharest to supplement the number of employees. In the same way, Mr. Efros, let's increase the number of patrols to ensure that citizens travel safely", declared the PM during the Government meeting.

During the winter holidays, Moldovan citizens return home or go on vacation. According to the IGPF, over 47,000 people crossed the border in the last 24 hours. Of these, the crossings of Moldovan citizens constituted 20,632.

The most "active" border was with Romania - 24,745 crossings, 14,790 crossings were reported at the Moldovan - Ukrainian border and another 8,263 crossings –by plane.
