Avian influenza concerns rise in Moldova

Concerns over avian influenza (AI) in Moldova are mounting after 25 new outbreaks were detected between December 22nd and January 2nd.

The National Agency for Food Safety (ANSA) confirmed 15 cases in wild birds and 10 in domestic poultry across 12 districts.

Authorities urge poultry owners and breeders to remain vigilant. "Keeping birds indoors and immediately reporting any suspected clinical signs of AI to veterinary personnel are crucial steps in containing the spread," emphasised ANSA.

The recent surge in AI outbreaks raises concerns about potential economic and public health implications. Authorities are diligently working to control the situation and mitigate its impact.
