NATO calls for transformation in response to Ukraine war
The Chairman of NATO's Military Committee, Admiral Rob Bauer, said at the NATO Defense Chiefs' Meeting in Brussels that NATO needs a society-wide approach to support Ukraine.
In his opening remarks at the meeting, the admiral also said that the North Atlantic Alliance must focus on efficiency in an era where anything can happen.
"To strengthen our collective defence and, at the same time, to support Ukraine in its existential struggle, we need a society-wide approach," Bauer said. "We need public and private actors to change mindsets. We live in an era where everything is planned, everything is predictable, controllable, and focused on efficiency. We are living in an era where anything can happen at any time. It is an era in which we must expect the unexpected. An era in which we must focus on effectiveness to be fully efficient. We also need a transformation of NATO in the future."
