Attention travelers! Abbreviation KIV is replaced by RMO on flight charts starting today
Starting today, January 18, Chisinau International Airport has the abbreviation RMO and not KIV, as it was until now. According to an airline, plane tickets are already available for sale with the new abbreviation and passengers will not be affected by this change.
Tickets purchased for travel until January 18, or after this date, are accessible with the same unique confirmation code, the company states.
We remind you that the authorities decided to replace the abbreviation because it was an abbreviation of the Russian name Kishinev. Therefore, KIV will no longer appear on the flight charts.
Changing the abbreviation is a rather long procedure and it took almost a year, the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, previously said. He explained that attempts to find other names failed because they were already in use on the Internet.
