Government allocates 4.8 million lei for the maintenance of temporary placement centers for refugees
Temporary placement centers for refugees will benefit from additional funding from the state in the amount of 4.8 million lei. The money needed for the maintenance and operation of the centers will be allocated from the Government's intervention fund. A decision to this effect was approved today during the meeting of the cabinet of ministers.
"Once the state of emergency expired on December 31, 2023, the mechanism for allocating financial resources for temporary placement centers is no longer available. Thus, it was necessary to grant some financial allocations from the Government's Reserve Fund to cover the expenses of December 2023", reads a press release of the Government.
According to the cited source, over two million lei will be allocated to the local public administration authorities of the second level, and 438 thousand lei - to the local public administration authorities of the first level. Also, according to the decision, the amount of almost 2.3 million lei will be transferred to the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection (MMPS) to cover the maintenance costs of temporary placement centers, created by public institutions, state enterprises, and capital companies mostly state and non-commercial organizations. Also, over 53 thousand lei will be redirected to cover the maintenance costs of the Temporary Placement Center for Refugees, created by the administrative authority under the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection.
