The director of the Customs Service, Igor Talmazan, announced his resignation. This was announced on Thursday, April 4 by the Customs Service
"In my position of director of the Customs Service, I am responsible for the good administration of the Customs Service and I take both the successes, but especially the failures during the period in which I led the Customs Service, and I believe that, as the leader of the institution, it is necessary to submit my honorable resignation and to retire from the position of director of the Customs Service.
The fight against corruption is a long-term effort and the new leader must place greater emphasis on institutional integrity. I am confident that the Customs Service will become an institution that the business community and citizens alike will talk about with respect and trust", reads the message sent by Igor Talmazan.
Among the failures of the Customs Service, Talmazan mentioned the recent case in which seven customs inspectors suspected of corruption were documented at the Airport Customs Post. In this respect, he said that "there is still a lot of work to be done in the field of institutional integrity and professional ethics.
We remind you that Igor Talmazan held the position of director of the Customs Service between September 2021 and November 2022 and he was appointed again on February 20, 2023.
