The Republic of Moldova will receive a grant for solid waste management in the north of the country

The Republic of Moldova will receive a grant of 5.4 million euros for the development of infrastructure in solid waste management. The Parliament ratified a grant offered to our country by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).

"4.04 million euros will be redirected for the construction of facilities for waste management - landfill and composting station in Dondușeni; transfer station in Edineț and Briceni towns. The rest of the amount will be used for the purchase of equipment and goods for the waste treatment and disposal facility in Dondușeni, equipment and goods for the transfer stations in Edineț and Briceni", said the Minister of the Environment, Sergiu Lazarencu.

The grant of 5.4 million euros will be directed to the implementation of the "Solid waste in the Republic of Moldova" project.

Also, at the beginning of the year, a Loan Agreement was concluded with the EBRD, which involves the granting of a loan of 25 million euros. The term of the loan is up to 15 years, with a grace period of four years.

The "Solid waste in the Republic of Moldova" project will be implemented until 2027 and involves the construction of the solid waste management infrastructure, the procurement of equipment and machinery for transport, sorting, recycling and composting, as well as stopping the activity of unauthorized dumpsters.
